Frequently Asked Questions

  • A VI Peel takes approximately 7 days to be completed. The day you come in to get the peel application is considered Day 1. Flaking and peeling of the skin typically begins on Day 2 or 3, starting around the mouth and progressing outwards. Most patients are done peeling on Day 6 or 7. While you can resume most daily activities, patients are to avoid excessive heat and sweating throughout the duration of the peel. Thus, intense workouts are discouraged during this time. We also recommend that treatments are scheduled a few weeks before any important events.

    While there is quite a bit of downtime for this treatment, it is an investment in your skin! Compared to other treatments with little to no downtime, the VI Peel provides a much deeper clarification of the skin, and continues to purify the skin from within for weeks after.

  • Minor improvements are visible immediately after the peeling phase is complete. Full results typically take 4-6 weeks to appear. Patients will begin to notice that their skin appears firmer, clearer and smoother, leaving you with a youthful radiant glow.

  • The VI Peel treatment is relatively painless for most patients. Those that are more sensitive may experience a mild-moderate burning or tingling sensation during the application which is tolerable. However, the product contains an anesthetic to help lower the discomfort level. Throughout the duration of the peel, patients may feel itchy. This can be alleviated by the VI Derm Post-Treatment Repair Cream, which is included in the take-home kit.

  • There are no immediate side effects following the treatment. It typically takes 2-3 days before the skin begins to peel and will continue for up to 6 days. During the peeling, the skin may appear to be an unusual color, either red, brown or yellow tones. More commonly, the skin will appear to have a slight sunburn that is flaking off.
